No. 1814
Console Table
34W 15 1/4D 31 1/2 H
Species: Mahogany
This bowfront console is a shallower version (15 1/4D) of our No. 1822 Side Table, and solves a different problem than the larger table. Unlike the original, we use Baltic Birch for our drawer sides, and backs. I am convinced that this multi-ply plywood is the best material we have found for this purpose. The multiple cross grain lay-up makes an extremely strong and stable drawer side with a very durable bearing surface. It does have one drawback: it's not pretty. That's why we paint them.

A simple small console with a gently curved splashboard and two drawers. Splashboards appeared prior to indoor plumbing on washstands and water benches.

Species: Cherry
All of these tables (in the AC group) have drawers and are finished on four sides. These tables fit well in smaller rooms where space is limited. The drawers will hold a small phone book, car keys, and a one pound bag of M & M's.

Tables like these can be ordered any size through the 3500 Custom Table Program. This is, however, along with the 3540 (shown under the Desks page), a standard size and therefore less expensive than a custom table nearly the same size. The console has flush joinery and beading along the apron rails and down the legs. There is another bead around the top edge.
